The Wedding Ceremony
As promised in our previous article, we’ll start this one by explaining how the wedding union ceremony works.
However, let’s not forget that while the marriage union belongs to the chapter of contracts(al-‘uqûd) in our religious prescriptions, it’s important to emphasize that this union is first and foremost a meaningful moral commitment. Talking about this marriage and what it implies when one commits to it by taking a woman as wife, the Lord says the following:
How dare you take it back (i.e. the dowry), after the most intimate union has associated you with each other and they have obtained a solemn commitment from you?
