Dry Ablutions

In Arabic, tayammum means purpose. Its real meaning is to use sand as a means of purification to perform acts of worship such as prayer. Indeed, as mentioned in a previous edition, Islam prescribes that every Muslim must, before beginning his prayer, purify his limbs in case of minor impurity.

Prayer is therefore valid only after purification. Remember the hadith narrated by Abû Hurayra in which the Prophet says:

“Allah does not accept the prayer of any of you if he is in a state of impurity, until he performs his ablutions.”
