For the ”Personality of the Edition” … we have chosen a man known for the breadth of patience with which he distinguished himself. He and his parents converted at the same time after hearing about Islam. He is the only son of Yâssir and Soumayya , the first female martyr of Islam. This personality is none other than ‘Ammâr Ibn Yâssir .

‘Ammâr Ibn Yâssir is a Muslim from the early days of Revelation. His father Yâssir Ibn ‘Âmir , a Yemenite, left his native land to find his missing brother. When he arrived in Mecca, he liked it and decided to stay and start a family. Abû Hudhayfa Ibn al-Mughîra, a Meccan with whom he worked, suggested that he marry one of his slaves, Soumayya Bint Khayyât . From this union was born ‘Ammâr Ibn Yâssir .
