Prophetic Models: an Under-exploited Treasure Trove
In the Quran, passages relating to the lives of the Prophets and the peoples of the past account for almost a third of the holy corpus. Thus, Allah sent us his last Book by deciding to compose it – for a third of its content – of ancient stories, narratives and events.

Why is this? Is it to teach us to live in the past? Is it to encourage us to continually dwell on old events that are frozen in time and space? Or is it, on the contrary, an invitation to meditate on the past, to learn the lessons that will help us to manage our present, our reality and our needs, with a faith strengthened by these examples. In other words, learn from past stories to improve our present lives.
