Ablutions

In Islam, all Muslims are required to purify their limbs with water before beginning prayer, in case of minor impurity. This is commonly known as “small” ablutions (al-wudû’).

Indeed, any prayer, which corresponds to the second pillar of Islam, will not be validated if ablutions are not performed beforehand. Abû Hurayra reported that the Prophet Muhammad said:

“Allah does not accept the prayer of any of you if he is in a state of impurity, until he performs his ablutions.”
