The Hadith of Jibrîl

For this edition’s preaching, we’re going to remind you of the wisdoms of a hadith, better known as the “hadith of Jibrîl”. It explains perfectly that it’s not enough to have faith in the heart, but that the limbs of the body must put it into practice through religious acts, remembering that Allah is watching us and observing our deeds, however small they may be.

Abû Hurayra reported that ‘Umar Ibn al-Khattâb said:

“One day, while we were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad , behold, there appeared to us a man with bright white clothes and intensely black hair, with no visible trace of travel, no one among us knew him. He came and sat down in front of the Prophet Muhammad , placed his knees against his and put the palms of his hands on both his thighs, and then asked him 5 questions which were:
