‘Umayr Ibn Sa’d

This Companion was the son of Sa’d al-Ansârî, who was one of the first converts from the city of Yathrib (formerly Medina). He was therefore imbued with the values of Islam from an early age. The Islamic principles he acquired influenced him at every stage of his life. This noble Muslim is none other than ‘Umayr Ibn Sa’d .

His faith was remarkably sincere, and his loyalty to Allah’s religion unfailing.

The death of his father left ‘Umayr Ibn Sa’d , still young, and his mother in poverty. Julâs Ibn Suwayd, a close relative, according to some historians, or his adoptive father, for others, took on the task of providing for them. This man belonged to the powerful Aws tribe of the city of Medina. He was very concerned about the welfare of ‘Umayr and was very attentive towards him. ‘Umayr , for his part, cherished him deeply. ‘Umayr applied every teaching of the Prophet with devotion in the hope of satisfying Allah .
